Never before have we been so connected,
so capable of creating change.
Never before have we been so distracted,
so capable of ignoring the consequences of our consumption habits.
NEVER BEFORE HAVE WE BEEN SO CONNECTED,
SO CAPABLE OF CREATING CHANGE.
NEVER BEFORE HAVE WE BEEN SO DISTRACTED,
SO CAPABLE OF IGNORING THE CONSEQUENCES OF OUR CONSUMPTION HABITS.
Far removed from city streets, in the dense forests of eastern Canada,
the impacts of our consumption habits are not so easily ignored.
Driven by rising population, the demand for resources is at an all time high.
While our efforts to replant more than we harvest are well intentioned,
one all important detail is too often overlooked.
Our forests are much more than lumber warehouses that need replenishing.
They are complex and diverse ecosystems that must be nurtured if we are to move forward as a truly sustainable civilization.
At the forefront of this movement since 1986, Alain Bélanger, forest engineer by training and sustainability advocate by vocation, realized that something more than sustainably managing forests had to be done.
